Life-size bronze of Black Labrador Retriever, Marine Lcpl. Eli, Bomb Dog. Eli’s handler, Marine Lcpl. Colton Rusk was killed on a mission they were on and Eli laid over his body until other handlers got to him. Eli was retired after that happened as he didn’t want to work with any other handler and retired to his handler’s parent’s home in Lone Grove,Texas. Eli was present at this dedication of his bronze portrait. He is looking toward the black granite wall in the Fallen Warrior’s Memorial where his handler’s name is engraved as if looking for his buddy, Colton.
Life-size bronze sculpture of a Golden Retriever, Bretagne. The last of the search and rescue dogs used at the 911 Tragedy in New York City. She was honored by the City with a “Bretagne Day” in New York and was retired to teaching young school children about Service Dogs and what they can do. She passed away a few years ago. She had a great smile and she is the greater to people coming into the Memorial.
