Every cowboy wishes for that really good horse and during his career, if he is real lucky, one or two might come along.
In the world of professional rodeo, one of these horses can become as big a legend as their two legged counterparts.
Big Jim Bynum won four World Championships in steer wrestling on one of these special horses. A good-looking little gray horse called "Ol Blue".
There was "Mickey", he carried Dean Oliver to seven World Championships in calf roping.
Team roping legend, Leo Camarillo was put into position to win an All Around title as well as four World Championships by a horse called "Stick".
Rodeo fans would remember, names like "Baldy", "Colt", "Baby Doll", and "Peanuts" from years past.
Some of these horses were pedigreed, some were not, as you can only measure their value in the amount of heart or try that they have along with that determination to help their partner accomplish his or her goals.
During my years of Rodeoing, I was luck enough to own and win on one of these special horses. I was privileged to have been able to get to share part of his life. His name was "Shorty".
I know that somewhere in that unknown hereafter, there has to be a place where these horses go. Why, it wouldn't be heaven for a cowboy if there wasn't a good looking cow pony standing there just "Waiting for a Cowboy".
